What's In My Bag?

There are a lot of posts floating around similar to this, where people add up the worth of the contents of their bag/makeup bag/face. This is similar, but with a twist...

I'm doing a post on what's in my bag, compared to what I'd like in my bag. (And what most normal people have.)

So, here's what is currently festering in my everyday Zara work bag...

A selection of the treats

Normal Stuff
Urban Outfitters makeup bag and mirror
iPad
Ted Baker purse
Primark umbrella
 Gorjuss flip notebook
2 x pens
Earphones
Receipts
Label M Dry Shampoo
Label M shine mist
1 x bobble
1 x hair grip
Mints
Teenie bottle of Givenchy perfume

Nearly Normal Stuff
Multivitamins
A scraggy old shopping list
A scarf
Elemis mattifying moisturiser
Batiste plumping powder
One manky plaster
7p

Not Normal Stuff
A Safari finger painting kit
A paintbrush
Elemis exfoliating face wash
3 x mini pompoms
An empty tube of Maybelline concealer
Glue gun stick of glue
3D glasses
3x batteries

My excuse for the last category is that you never know when any of these items may come in handy...

So then this is what I'd like my bag and contents to really look like:

See, I really don't ask for a lot! No need for a paintbrush or 3D glasses in sight. I LOVE this bag too. It's only £29.99 from Zara and is now firmly cemented on my Christmas wishlist.

1. A good book to save me from horrific London tubes and to make me look all intellectual if it falls out of my bag.

2. A decent sized bottle of perfume. I'm not a massive perfume girl but love Black XS.

3. An any-time plane ticket to somewhere wonderful. (See, don't ask for much).

4. A whole load of nice makeup for emergency touch-ups

5. Face wipes. Something I NEVER have and ALWAYS need.

I'm really sorry if this has done nothing to enhance your life, but I feel so feng-shuid and de-cluttered it's actually brilliant. If your contents are as awful as mine, I can seriously recommend a virtual bag clean.

Merrily We Roll Along UK Premiere

Last night I got my gladrags on and tottered on down to the Odeon cinema in Haymarket for the UK premiere of Merrily We Roll Along. Does anyone else have a boyfriend who gets stroppy if you're taller than them in heels. And therefore makes you totter across cobbled streets solo. Or just me?

So this was my first ever premiere, and I'd love to say I was invited because of my witty and wonderful blog, but actually I'm the sister of the co-founder of Digital Theatre - the extraordinary company that filmed and produced the movie.

Because of this fact I'm not going to be biased after this one teenie statement. Promise.  It was bloomingly utterly brilliant.

Merrily We Roll Along is a West End musical which has been a huge hit both here in London and in Broadway. Filmed during live shows, seeing it on big screen is an amazing amalgamation of theatre and cinema.

The cast were also in the audience, providing an amazing atmosphere and the occasional whoop. If I was watching myself on big screen I'd be dancing on my seat and whooping til the cows came home.

Check out this link to find out which of your local cinemas it's being screened at.

Then it was off to the Haymarket Hotel ('s swimming pool) for an after party of too much wine and not enough humous and Parma ham. (No amount of humous and Parma ham is ever enough)...

What I wore:
Jacquard skater dress - Zara
Heels - New Look
Lippy (the reddest lip I've ever dared wear) - Barry M shade 163
Necklace - DIYd out of an old chain and a pearl bracelet (all broken, swapped about and put back together)

Pretending to get papped...

Just mingling with Mumma Shaw by the pool, y'know...

The pool. It's with pride I announce I didn't even dip a toe.

Sorry for the rubbish photo quality, I was trying to play it cool and take them 'subtly' ...

October Wishlist

This month I am WELL into my winter warmers already. The sudden change to cold and rain brought me running to my jumpers and slippers faster than you can say nana. So it comes as no surprise that this month's wishlist looks somewhat cosier than the last few.

They're not numbered, sorry, but it's pretty easy to work out...

I love a masculine shoe, and these Office chelsea boots look perfect for afternoon rambles around the country estate, before a nice cup of earl grey.
Office - £70

If you've not checked out the Ohh Deer website yet, then after you've read this head over for a nosey. They have some brilliant artists on there, and I can't actually get enough of their cushions.
Ohh Deer - £35

Cobalt blue has been around for a while, but I'm still not tired of it. Simple, flattering and versatile, this Topshop tee shift dress is ticking allll of my blue dress boxes.
Topshop - £45

I know I'm not alone in this... I have a need to get a new coat every winter. I always love the one I buy, but by the next year it's just not quite tickling my pickle. Love, love, love and love this oversized Zara one.
Zara - £79.99

Joy always have something on their site that makes me smile. I'm all for a pinafore, and the unique, slightly retro pattern on this is just darn joyful. Har.
Joy - £42

I have to mention this... if you zoom in on this picture, the model's legs are pretty hairy! (See, models have hairy legs too!) Huzzah. But that aside, you'll find me this winter in a pair of these, nursing a hot chocolate and humming Christmas carols to my heart's content.
Urban Outfitters - £14

I need some fairy lights (preferably daisy...) to gradually wake me up in a morning. Going from a warm duvet and pitch dark room to full on lighting is NOT GOOD for my morning moods.
Urban Outfitters - £15

Carrying on the daisy theme, I love me a floral print and this is the perfect way to inject it into an Autumn wardrobe. Statement, oversized and bloomin' marvellous.
Urban Outfitters - £42

Zara Florals

Happy Monday! (If there's such a thing?)

I'm not going to make a habit of this - partly because I don't have enough clothes, partly because I am the world's worst serious poser, and partly because I pose in front of a carrier bag and a lamp - but here's an OOTD post! (That stands for Outfit of the Day if you're reading, Mum).

I'm fed up of my only trouser option being jeans, and had been on the look out for something different for a while when I spotted these little floral gems in Zara. At £29.99 they were a bit of an impulse buy, but I lovelovelove them. They sit just above the hip, are tapered without being skinny or over-baggy, show just the right amount of ankle, and work wonders on my non-existent bottom.

After wearing them to work and feeling like they should see a bit of party action, I wore them this weekend for dinner and drinks and fell in love with them a little bit more. I think they thanked me too after getting to experience the sights and sounds of Soho nightlife.

The only downside with this outfit was that my Wahaca food baby had nowhere to hide....

September Wishlist (And THOSE Primark Boots)

I was going to call this post: Tiger, Topshop and TRF and get some alliteration going on, but then I realised my creative genius would be ruined by the 'P' in Primark. You can't have everything, and these Primark boots really do need including in the title.

I've been on the hunt for a new pair of Autumn boots, and as you might have seen on August's wishlist, I had my eye on a rather lovely pair of Topshop beauties. That was, until, I stumbled across their twins in Primark. For a bargain at £18, they almost, almost-if-you-don't-look-too-closely look like a Topshop pair. If you do look closely, you can see they're glued together and a slightly dubious upper material, but for £18, I aint complaining. Plus, they are SO comfy.

But anyway... onto what's on my wishlist this month. Tiger features prettyyy heavily. I'm on a one-woman mission to get this shop turned into an online one.

1. I've been using my current Zara work bag since October 1st 2012, so I think it's most definitely time I invested in a new one...

2. These are so lovely, and being from Zara they should definitely withstand some of the Autumn weather. Hopefully maybe.

3. Oh Tiger! This rather fabulous design is on a whole set of table wear.

4. Floral tea knitwear. Need I say more?!

5. Apparently this is a 'hello poem' snood, although I don't think it reads 'hello' on it...does it?! Oh I don't know. But it's lovely Autumnal colours.

6. This is just lovely, and very very brilliant. Plus it's only £10. I told you Tiger was good.

7. I'm very into my oversized pieces this Autunm as they're great for huddling into and hiding food babies. I'm thinking of maybe getting the larger size in this and trying to wear it as a tshirt-dress...

Embracing Autumn

HOW IS IT SEPTEMBER?! No, really. How? Answers on a postcard please. (Remember the days of that?!)

August has been a great month for me - I've got to explore London a bit more, seen a lot of my wonderful family, attended the wedding of the year, and got to take ET home. Here's a few of the highlights through the medium of Instgram.  (My new favourite motto: Slap a filter on it.)
The resemblance is uncanny.

August Wishlist

I won't always blog about lists I promise, but I thought I'd share with you my August wishlist, because, well it's full of lovely things that I really really want.

Also, I'm using it as a way not to forget things I spy on the internet. I'm one of those online browsers who's like 'ooh I like that', then go into a shop and can't remember for the life of me what it is that I liked. So hear it is: my imaginary if-I-had-lots-more-money wishlist for this month...

1. I love love love this. It's from Oliver Bonas which is a store which I've only just discovered for its gorgeous home section. I think what gets me is the map lining. Slightly above budget, this might have to be a future DIY project...

2. Inamo: An oriental restaurant where you can interact with your table. The illustrated menu gets projected onto your table's surface, you can see inside the kitchen, discover the local neighbourhood and even order a taxi home. It blows my mind.

3. Cut out boots have to be the perfect Summer/Autumn transition shoe, and this Topshop pair are pretty much perfect. I have FAR too many summer dresses that need a good old toughen up.

4. I always nag my Mum for not keeping her old clothes, and this is another example of why! Mum, take note. These 'Mom' jeans from Topshop are perfectly retro, and printed with mini fast food. I do love a good mini print, and these are just all round fun. Ok so I'd never wear them, but that's not the point!

5. Urban Outfitters is another favourite of mine for home ware, and I loooove this range of letter lights. I think I'd like the whole set, and arrange my name above my front door...

6. Recently Zara has been battling with Topshop for my affections, and I think the neon strap detail on this otherwise plain dress is great. Toughened up with the Topshop boots and you could definitely get away with wearing this during the notsosunny days.
